Great Gidding development

Laurel Farm, Great Gidding

Set on a disused farmyard in the village of Great Gidding, this site had previously been home to numerous schemes over the years.

Laurel Farm, Great Gidding - Folium Architects

With no luck finding an interested developer for a disused farmyard in Great Gidding, Cambridgeshire, the client sold part of the site to Jan Maciag to construct two houses. One, a self-build, was for Jan himself and the other for the Estate. The architectural practice of Folium Architects has moved onto the site and is housed in a converted livestock shed.

Undertaken as a learning experience, the project aims to use sustainable building technologies such as the insulated clay block system, along with MVHR, in a modern variation on a traditional form of solid wall construction.
